Barcodes | ISRC codes

You need a barcode if you want to distribute your music on platforms such as Spotify, iTunes, or Deezer. You need one barcode per product, for example, an EP with 5 songs requires one barcode. If you want to release three different singles, you need three barcodes. Having a barcode is also very desirable and professional if you want to make a CD or vinyl record.

An ISRC code is a unique identification code for a music recording. It acts like a “fingerprint” for the song, making it easier to track and manage. It helps to ensure that the right people get paid for their work when the song is played on the radio or streamed on a platform like Spotify. You need an ISRC code for every recording of a song.

International

Does a barcode indicate the country where my product was made? In principle, this is not the case. A UPC/EAN barcode is internationally valid and can be requested by anyone anywhere. A product made in China can therefore have a barcode with an American country code. This country code does not say anything about the origin of the product.

Similarly, an ISRC code is a unique internationally recognized code that can be used worldwide to identify recordings. It is intended to facilitate the exchange of music information between different parties in the music industry.
